Description
An exquisite corpse is a collaborative art technique invented by the surrealists in the early XX century, where one artist draws half of an image, then covers all of it up except a narrow strip, and gives it to another artist to complete. I drew the right side and gave it to Schnuckelchen. I was surprised that he did not follow any of the lines from the edge of my drawing, but I was delighted by the end result: The dancer (who happens to be my mother) is moving behind a curtain, to join the ghostly faces which are pressed against it.
Schnuckelchen's style and mine are extremely different, but I think we tend to delight in the same sort of composition ideas about geometry and structure. I consider this image a great success!
I plan to give the piece of paper that my half is on to a very talented local artist who will make a second exquisite corpse from the same half picture. His style is more similar to mine than Schnuckelchen's, but it is still fairly different. Also he is - just in general - a much better artist than I am. I do not know if I will ever share the result with anyone (I would need Schnuckelchen's permission, at least).

I also see the project as successful and you have the permission to share it further.

Excellent.

Thank you!
Last night, I covered my half of the drawing with opaque paper and gave it to a local artist named Gabriel to take home. He will eventually send me a photograph of his own completion of this image, and I will post that also.
Gabriel is really good, and his half of the image will probably put mine to shame. It will be an honor to collaborate with him.
