Description

One of the people in the audience took pictures with my camera as I gave a presentation in Tennessee as part of a 4-day speaking tour. I had to give up lecturing when I contracted myasthenia gravis, but I sure enjoy teaching. This was during a presentation on digital painting - The Fine Art of Painting. Based on the slide I was explaining to the class that the hubbub about people using Photoshop to "morph" people into looking better isn't anything new. John Singer Sargent took a lot heat for how slim he made Teddy Roosevelt (whom, by the way, was good friends of my great-grandfather) back in the 1800s. Sargent made the portly president look slim and trim in his commissioned portrait of Teddy.
