Description

My laptop crashed during the latest macOS upgrade (Catalina). Hard. Destroyed the HD, the NVRAM. Recovered my data, from backups. The worst is, I didn't even know that upgrade was happening. It took days to recover. So badly trashed that the machine would power off after POST. Even the Recovery partition was trashed. I reinstalled Poser (of course, now the 10.2 version), and all the new content merged with the "recovered from backup content" (I keep the content sync'd to a server and my desktop). Code is in bitbucket. I loaded La Femme (1.1) applied my character morph (the Alexa freebie I posted on rendo) and did this quick render, to see if it all worked. Happy to say, it did. I'm almost done wrapping up a completely unrelated side coding project (DB stuff), then it's back to CGI. Blender's at 2.8, Poser at 11.2... Good times ahead, I think. There's some Poser dev stuff I've been wanting to explore. Also, the reality plugin is open source. I was working on that before. Took forever to get a compatible QT build to happen. Now, I need to try compiling it and see it I can get it to work, then see if I can mod it to work with 11.2, without the workaround. I really miss Lux. Anyway, here's the test that my laptop Poser is back to working

thank you ^.^

Good hand poses are difficult. Soooooo many joints.

I just starting to study photography more. Have you ever noticed the really good catalog images? Sure, you need a good model/texture and pose. And how to setup your render engine. But I find the lighting and camera angles (and composition, of course) really make stand out images. It was using luxrender that I first came to realize the importance of photographic skills. With my phone, I'm of the "take a bajillion images and something will turn out great if cropped right" school. Which, with a high quality complex render taking hours... not gonna get millions of those. If I could, I'd switch to animation :D
