So extensive that the unwary can still get lost in them today. Very eerie yet impressive place to visit!

I would be uneasy here also. a man that knew he was going to die had a speaker hid near this resting place and he spoke a few words before they put the soil in. it would scare some people here if the same thing was done.

I saw that on the news too! The reason for the catacombs was basically that in Paris they were burying people one on top of each other. The cemeteries were full....so they had to come up with a novel solution!
