Description

This was my entry for the CONTROL Photo Mode competition. Rendered in real time using Remedy's Northlight Engine. I bought this game because it's the first that has all implementations of the new RTX real time rendering features, most of them can't be seen in this image, but trust me they're excellent. In October 2019 Remedy released Photo Mode in the game, which lets us now move the camera as if it was an actual 3D application like DAZ Studio or Blender. Now we can freeze the game and frame up shots without the static third person perspective, and because it's a video game engine, it's a;; happening instantly without rendering times. Real time rendering isn't just "getting there", we have it. It has arrived. While Iray and Cycles are more detailed, this level of quality is probably good enough for most of us, and this here portrait a great example. I wonder when these features will be implemented in the apps we use to make 3D art? Blender already has Eevee. I say we need something like that in Poser and DAZ Studio, and we need it sooner rather than later. They've ported Cycles to Poser, how difficult would it be to do that with Eevee and call it Mega Fly? If I had one feature I could ask for, it would NOT be "yet another convoluted undocumented tick box buried and badly labelled in a hopelessly overcrowded interface", it would be real time previews and exports. I would also not ask for VR chat avatars by the way, nor a new character base. We need something that gets people excited to work with 3D art again, a tool that lets us tell a story in minutes rather than hours and weeks. Fact is, if DAZ or Poser won't do this soon, somebody else will. I don't mean Unreal or Unity et al, those are great tools too, but they're not made for casual artists. We need something that Poser and DAZ Studio used to be, namely easy and intuitive, before 20 years of feature creep ruined them into this overcomplicated mishmash at the fringes of a professional 3D app. Perhaps it is time for a brand new tool, compatible with tablets and mobiles phones, games consoles even. Pick a character, change their appearance, put them in a scene of your choice, frame the camera, and boom - picture rendered. Maybe one day, ey?

I just wish these great vendors would also do their products in poser also besides daz. Cause the Gen 8 girls have the best, but only daz. Leaves me out, it's their loss on $$, cause us poser users would buy up.

Image is super with your render and light work.

Wow - real time.... Now that's something to get excited about! This is excellent - I really like the moody lighting.

I'd love to see something like this implemented into DS or Poser.. And like Steve said, it would be awesome if DAZ and Poser could get back to working together like the old Mil-4 days..

Oooo! You just went live... Heading over to mixer..
