So, they enjoy one of the last warm day of the year by doing a little celebration of it. Not all the clan is depicted here, but there is 4 new characters in this scene. I will present all the characters, not just the new ones, because I have changed some details and some of them haven't appeared for a long time too. So, lets start with the foreground and from left to right. The two kids are Kar-Yol and Fiëndel respectively 9 and 6 years old. Kar-Yol is the little brother of Minalva (one of my main character if you are new here). Next are Vavala and Liiza the two are what I can call BFF. They have 22 and 21 years old. Vavala is the cousin of Minalva and Liiza is the aunt of Fiëndel, however, the concept of cousin or aunt/uncle does not really exist in their culture, even if it's aknowledge. It's because all members of the tribe are considerate like family, even when they aren't sharing direct blood. The last one, the one dancing alone, is Papparala, 208 years old, father of Liiza and grand-father of Fiëndel. Papparala is originated from another clan, the clan of Ropappa, which is friend with the Yolhujèd tribe (the tribe we're curently in). To prevent consanguinity and adding new blood in their clan, Wood Elves tribes are often arranging "weddings" with each others. I haven't decided yet, if only grooms are migrating to the clan of their brides or if it can be in both way. I have putted "wedding" in quote, because considering the life span of 1000 years of the Wood Elves, I think that the concept of wedding must be very different of ours. But I haven't figured out how exactly, yet. Now the back row. Jolel, 86 years old. Big brother of Minalva and Kar-Yol. The flute player is Rohon, 978 years old. With more than 970 years of experience in playing flute, I let you imagine how good he is. :D Next are Minalva and Romatzo (FYI, Romatzo is also one of my main characters), 24 and 32 years old. Minalva and Romatzo are a couple. Interspeacies relationships are pretty rare in the world of Mindelmar, mostly because races can't have children with another, so they don't really have reason to exist. Expect that sometimes feelings need no logical reasons to exist too. Minalva and Romatzo fell in love with each other during their adventurous life and they are now living with her clan. Romatzo has being accepted for now by the tribe as the companion of Minalva but it probably won't last forever. Next is Yalza, 105 years, mother of Jolel, Minalva and Kar-Yol. Druidess and chef of the tribe. Further to the right is Yolfuu, 121 years old, big brother of Yalza and father of Vavala. Sitting next to him is his "wife" Merajuu, 46 years old and behind her is Karki, 50 years old, mother of Liiza and grand-mother of Fiëndel. Like their daughters, Vavala and Liiza, the two are very close to each others. If you know my characters, maybe you have noticed that I have changed the ages of Vavala and Liiza. It's because, retrospectively, I've thought they were too young compared to Minalva and the friendship they share since childhood. Minalva is part of the "BFF" thing. ^^ I have also changed the age of Minalva's older brother, Jolel. Because, I wanted his mother Yalza to give birth to him at a relatively young age. It's more logical in a "medieval/primitive way of life" set up and especially because the capacities of elven women to have children is no superior to human females. It even would be shorter. Although, there is an exception with Yalza, but I won't enter in the details here. Because I have introduce the parents of Vavala and Liiza, you might wondering, "Where are the parents of the little Fiëndel?". Well, it's a sad story for another day. But talking of that, allow me to tell that, despite I have often portrayed my Wood Elves smiling and being happy in the woods, they don't always live an easy life. They are perfectly adapted to their conditions in the forest, but it's still a life with dangers, death, diseases, conflicts against other clans, etc... Anyway, I still have a lot to say about this picture and its making, but the text is long enough, so I will stop here.
