We had a beautiful one of these when I was a kid. Then dad surprised mum on valentines day with a new electric one.....only problem is he threw the old one away! Mum was not happy.................................

I did have a Singer electric from 1921 that was still working with a very nice wood cabinet. I could not sell it or find a buyer so I trashed it

Singer & Adler, most reliable tool money can buy, some might have never stopped working within a century. 'The good ol' thing' is not for feet resting but, for making the machine actually work; a big wheel used friction to transmit mechanical power through a natural leather belt. It was working butter smooth, sewing was a true pleasure... Magnificent photo.
