for the most part. the last time I tried to use one to call across an Interstate Highway it was demanding a long distance fee because the area code changed. that was the last time

Not just the pay phones died a death. I don't think other than my own and maybe two others I could recall a single number in my phone. I remember when you used to have to know three or more to be sure of talking contacting someone.

yes, the good old UK red telephone box has been used for everything from office aquariums to saunas... but then it is more versatile than these poor things
