Description

I travelled in the late 1960's and early 1970's with a man who was made the program manager of the biggest Navy programs at Douglas, Long Beach. He knew everybody in Naval Air Systems Command, the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon and the Naval Air Development Command. Today Trump would call him "loser." I came to know it myself on a missile development with Naval Weapons Center and the Naval Missile ,(0h what is that office for Pt. Mugu where I met all the female math technicians?) I had offered an equation that did not have the negative beginning of a cubic for the learning curve of Air Force Navigators. This man, "the loser", had shown me the relation between the sharpness of a wing leading edge and onset of lift as exhibited in the lift curve slope at low altitude in turbulence. I was holding this image back yesterday because it doesn't show the leading edge devices among the "secondary controls". Nor does it show the spoilers that came to be valuable for short fields on the ground and too drop a wing to roll where adding lift to one side with aileron might upset a critical low speed near stall phase. What tipped to put it up was a woman yesterday I saw in the store wearing rather worn and faded NASA sweat shirt. At the time It reappeared in a few departments and this morning I thought of Gabriel Giffords and her astronaut husband and then of the girl friend of a NASA astronaut who came to the town I lived in and used a flattened tire to distract a librarian after work she thought was luring her boyfriend. Just one of the weird ways murder played out once or twice a year in that town. The violence flagged is "over-the-cuckoo's nest." in terms of immediate impact.
