Description

First some background. Earlier this year, on Jan 7th to be precise, my DeepCool GamerStorm Maelstrom 240 (word salad) utter piece of shit CPU cooler sprung a leak one month after it went out of warranty and destroyed half of my system. What iced this cake was that M$FT Windows 10 wiped out my admin account and corrupted my Win 10 installation partition. And the coup-de-grace was that my live AND backup files had been EFS type encrypted, since I was working on some sensitive stuff and moving around a lot back then. EFS is the old handover from Win7 (which my system was built under) and there is next to no physical way to recover EFS (Encrypting File System) files without the admin account's private keys once those keys are gone (got a whole paragraph on wikipedia regarding this issue on the EFS article too). And my backup keys were located on the NAS which overlapped onto the EFS drives...so backup of the backup keys were also gone. I never experienced a Windows crash of this nature in the 20+ years that I have been using the OS. The first time that I did face this, it charred the earth beneath my feet. I lost a lot. A LOT. The physical hardware I replaced in a few weeks tops with new stuff....but months and months of hardwork was gone once my precious files encrypted by EFS locked me out from accessing them forever. ------------------- Back to the image now. This was one the the things that I thought was totally gone. It was something that I needed for my Sci-Fi VR project that I lost in the system crash. It's nothing too fancy...just a worm/tentacle/alien thing for DS and Blender that acts like a 'Spineworm' in my VR story. Earlier today, I was just going through some old files to purge while taking stock of what I need to backup and port to my new system (yet to be built)...and I found this damn thing. Textures were EFS locked...so those are gone. But the mesh + entire bone rig + morphs (the really time consuming bit of the development process) has somehow...against all odds...survived. FYI, the Spineworms make zenomoprhs look like gummy bears on account of how ridiculously hard they are to kill in my story's IP. Think that they are the spawns between a tardigrade and the ebola virus, but with the added powers of biblical Lucifer. And these buggers seem to have broken the 4th wall...and persevered even while everything else was destroyed around them...by the flukiest of fluke chances. And to celebrate their return from the cryo-chambers of some dark portion of my discarded NAS... I want to offer these cant-even-kill-it-with-fire worms up as a holiday gift to you all and let the legend of the Spineworms ring loudly through the halls of time :D This goes onto my holiday giveway list...now I just need buckle up and finish up all the freebies before the holiday season kicks in.
