Description
I don't know if anyone remembers the story I wrote back in 2014 and 2015. I know. A long stretch
for anyone. It was about a character named Archimedes Watson who perfected a robot brain and his
adventures exploring his genius. After terrorists destroy his computer science lab, he teams up
with his cousin, Jarrett Treadwell and Jarrett's bosses, Reed Bogdanovich and Skylar Pope. They
are forced to fake Archimedes (Archie) death so he can get out of a military contract.
They perfect a transportation device that allows them to set up a base on the moon. While they
are working up there, a strange alien pays them a visit. The Spaceman pictured here. He gives
them many helpful hints for improving their science but warns them to stay away from Mars. Of
course, Archie is curious so he sends a robot to Mars and it gets destroyed by a laser blas from
outerspace. Lesson learned. Stay away from Mars.
The spaceman gets them to go to another planet he and his associates have created in another
solar system. Once they find they are able to travel there and back to earth with ease using
the transport equipment Archie has designed, they start to colonize this new planet, much to
the approval of the spaceman.
In the final scene, five years ago, we see the spaceman and the Lone Wolf on a deserted looking
planet. Here is the text from that exchange:
Text for post #2289: Hello, Spaceman. May I visit your new planet?
Posted June 30, 2015
'And what is it you wish to do there, Lone Wolf?'
'I have heard the earth people have been making unheard of progress in the creation of artificial
beings. Is this true?'
'It is. But why do you have any interest in that field of study?'
'The syndicate I work for is always searching for new business opportunities. If we find that
the earth people have got something we want, we might be induced to try and trade with them.'
'I am going to have to insist you leave them alone for now, as well as the people I transplanted
to my new world. They are still adapting to one another and any outside distractions will only
make for disruptions in the mutual assimilation processes each species is experiencing. I will
give them about five years to come to terms with each other. Check back with me then.'
'As you wish, Spaceman. Five years is only a blink of the eye where we both come from. I assume
you have other projects in the works as well?'
'Oh yes. So very many, I sometimes wonder how I keep track of them. But my electronics are holding
together quite nicely still. Even after all these eons. Whoever created me did a pretty good job.'
'They sure did! Would my syndicate love to get a look at your brain!'
'Don't hold your breath on that one, Lone Wolf! Remember. No sooner than five years! And you must
run it by me first before you approach this planet!'
'Of course, Spaceman. I wouldn't dream of crossing you!'"
======================================================================================
Now at this point, five years later per the story, I don't know what I will do. I was thinking of showing how
this colony is progressing and some of the new improvements and discoveries Archie has made over
the years. I haven't got it organized in my head yet. I'm open to suggestions if anyone would
care to contribute.

For Star Trek I found a wonderful galaxy map that helps me with story ideas. Sometimes knowing where a locale is placed in relation to other locales helps. :milky_way

Very well done scene, Bill, and a fascinating story idea. I'm looking forward to where you take this!
Trust me... I gave up on trying to get things organized in my head about 10 years ago with panel 1 of page 1 of chapter 1... Seriously.. I have everything laid out in outline fashion in a notebook from the first page 10 years ago. When I was still working, I'd sometimes get an idea (they can come from anywhere - something on TV, something in a magazine, even something someone said while talking on their cellphone as they walked by), I'd scribble it down on a napkin or whatever, and find a way to work it into the story. And of course there's plenty of inspiration right here in this community.
The progression of the colony, and things Archie has learned an implemented over 5 years would be a good starting point for the continuation - it could be a great narrative or prologue to the next phase of the story. Hope this helps a bit. 😁

Good work, the characters are interesting.
The only advice I can give is something I found with my own writing: don't introduce too many characters unless you are in it for the long haul. If you want a short story keep the character list short. Dead end character lines are frustrating for the writer and the reader. ... it's just an idea to consider...
