The Heckman Shiva Triple Threat handgun was rushed into service during the Phobos Emergency. Despite this it proved a huge hit with Patrol Officers and non-comms, seeing sterling service in the ground battles on the Moon and Mars. Heckman's brief was to produce a gun that the greenest cadet could blast away with and not wreck friendly equipment. The gun mounted a one million candle power flashgun, exploiting the photo sensitivity of the Hun soldiers and their refusal to wear protective equipment such as a visor. A one Giga-Watt UV pulse laser provided close in anti-personnel defense. But the primary system was the six shot rocket propelled plastic fragmentation launcher, devastating against flesh but no danger to a ship hull or equipment. The Shiva served the Patrol for almost a hundred years with little change until mankind met the Antlian race, Richard Conrad commented it's only hope of stopping an Antlian was to throw it at the creature and hope it ate it and choked on it.
