There are a lot of subtle touches in this that really caught my eye. I won't lie to you, I was breezing through the gallery and sped right by this one... but something magical caught my eye and I came back to it because I wanted to see more. The costume and the wings are the star here. They appear lush and highly detailed. The hair is also interesting in its own way. The expression and pose don't work for me because they don't really "say" anything. There's nothing really wrong with that – sometimes the peace of silence speaks volumes. But... well... here it just doesn't do more than make him appear solemn. There's nothing wrong with that, mind you, but it seems to be a missed opportunity to say more. All of that is minor, though. You made some brilliant choices here: the angle of the camera to convey energy, the stark light tipping off the wing tops, and the restrained use of DOF blur. All of those combine to elevate this to something special. BRAVO.
