Ditto tuerda---this is what I meant when I spoke of the intensity of your oil-pastel work. You dive into that medium and let it speak in its own unique, intense, even ornery language. This is another of your deep-eyed portraits, w/ intense faces...You leave big open areas in some of your faces (as here), and then boom, the shadows are deep and intense, making heavy contrast. And this man's clothing has a wonderful 3 tones: Blue, gray-green, then reddish brown: Expressive! (I doubt he's actually wearing a jacket that has a different color on each side: This feels like one of your typical choices to intensify your subject.) A visual 'pow'. Very intense portraiture. And you allow the 'smeary' feel of those pastels to have their full say. It's the perfect medium for a portrait as intense as this.
