My very first creation for this new year. Acrylic paint on paper 300g size "Jesus" (22x30in) Thank you for the visit and comments.

Ma toute première création pour cette nouvelle année. Peinture acrylique sur papier 300g format "jésus" (56x76cm) Merci pour la visite et les commentaires.

Like that background.

I used to live near an underground station which seemed to have a similar pattern, only that it was meant to represent an optical depiction of sound (since it was near a music school).

splendide...First, I love the background, it's a Mondrian-like grid of rectangles and perpendicular lines (les lignes perpendiculaire?). And you use a delicate blue, which is a beautiful contrast with the oranges and reds in your female. (The rectangle blues are seen in the woman's eye---a beautiful aesthetic choice, Yves.)

Your female profile is elegant, simple, grace-filled, and very deftly painted. Your line (i.e., the line of the woman's neck, jaw bone, forehead and nose, etc) is gracious and articulate...you sweep across the paper like a ballet dancer, your line morphs from thin to thick and long to short, etc. I also love the generous, thick curls of her hair, and how they contrast with the short hair on the rest of her head. It's a very intelligent portrait, very classy, very 'smart'. And I love that you put the woman's profile (buste?) against that Mondrian-like background. Perfection, Yves. A beautiful, very stylish, and always intelligent painting.
