Description


This castle was modified during the Renaissance period. But on the wall above the front door, you can still see the vertical grooves where the drawbridge mechanisms came from. The walls are built of hard limestone, the softer white stone used for the sculpted parts

Frankly, I thought this building was quite small. After all, the first photo lacked the scale. However, when I see the gatehouse, the building looks quite large. Very nice photo, Jean-Claude.

This photo seems to show the building as much older and more serious somehow. The textures of the stones seems so different between the two images. So very interesting to view such a place thru your eyes.

Un excellent nouveau point de vue sur ce château ! L'emplacement de l'ancien pont-levis suggère que ce qui est aujourd'hui une "cour intérieure" était autrefois l'extérieur du château et que celui-ci était entouré de douves, comblées plus tard comme ce fut le cas pour bien des châteaux...
