Description

a postwork of Lake Michigan groynes, covered in ice... I'll try to post some COLORFUL images next time...I just like diving into the mysterious side of winter. (Groynes do get ice like this: The ice swirls around in the wind, and forms "ice scarves". Imagine rows of these after a blizzard...) Thanks again for your visits, everyone! m ------------------

I feel a deep, dark horror emanating from this photo as if there is an evil, just outside the veil.

Cold. This is the definition of cold. The lighting, the coloring, and the subject are all cold. The point of view here is interesting and certainly a view I don't see where I'm from. The black haze around the trees in the background looks creepy and ominous. A fascinating view and subject, Mark, thanks for sharing this!

That looks like and alien planet. You are a brave man to venture into that kind of cold for your art. I'd be in three layers of clothes, under at least one afghan with a cup of hot chocolate gripped in gloved hands - in my living room. Bravo!

Trippy how that ice forms on the Rock? Has a glistening look to them and looks like natural sculptures. Great photo my friend. Sweet home Chicago..

I definitely admire your fortitude, getting out to get photos like this in that bitter, windy cold. I need to stop being such a wuss! LOL

There are man-made sculptures, and there are natural sculptures like these. They look like figures (you can almost make out buttocks and shoulder blades on the one on the closest right. This is exquisite, Mark! The blue-ish purple really emphasizes the cold.

Oh, I love this capture! These are such mysterious looking objects...the ones in the foreground look like ice-covered elephants. Those in the background look like a couple of royal personages frozen in time...

Icy cold and beautiful - if there is waiting a warm place at home... love the toning you did in this, its a kind of aubergine and gray-brown, perfekt choose for this!

Odd, the only groynes I was aware of are the ones between the upper legs. This photo shows the play between bokeh and sharpness. Really interesting. The groynes at the left remind me of something eerie, like spirits of the dead caught up in the walls of a haunted house, just straining to get out.

Mark, this is simply an amazing picture. I really enjoyed the details and the reflections in the ice.
