Enjoy the ride Route 66 – 66 Drive-In theatre
Warm, summer, weekend nights were always spent at the drive-in. Children playing on the playground equipment just below the screen, speaker hanging on car windows, the refreshment center full of anxious snackers. Not to mention the great movie and sometimes a second that would play all night under the summer stars. Most of these drive-in movie theaters are long-gone but one still shows regularly on old Rt. 66 in Carthage, Missouri.

I am liking your Route 66 series. I especially LIKE THIS ONE! I grew up in Carthage, Missouri. I have a lot of fond memories of 66 Drive-In, from being a kid playing in front of the big screen as you mentioned, and watching cartoons to later as a teenager going there with a date and/or friends, and still later as an adult with my wife and kids. I live in Arkansas now, so don't get up there for the drive-in very often, but I enjoy it when I can.
THANK YOU for making this image! Have you been there? Did you make this layout from your own memories, or from photos you or someone else took?

Hello Zescanner, I'm thrilled that this also brought back memories for you too. This image is from my memories as a child and a teenager. My parents would always take Route 66 out to California. I grew up in Wisconsin. It was always a trip I looked forward to. The places that I've created for the Route 66 series are places we had visited or stayed at as a child and teenager. Those truly were the days of wonder and adventure.. I'm actually planning a road trip this summer to travel down route 66..I know most places are gone but not all... Thanks so much for sharing your memories of this. Enjoy The Ride!
