This is the denno I recognise. The overall feel reminds of the sort of torrid lust & honour situation one gets in Mediterranean peasant life, a bit along the the lines of the scenario in Cavalleria Rusticana There is definitely a strong sense of foreboding here. Too much heat and simmering passions ready to blow!!!
