So true about "planes being deceiving from the ground." When I'm riding the bus in one direction and see planes in the other direction I could swear they were staying in place! Optical illusion, I know.

Funny story... One night my wife and I were sitting on the front porch watching the Space Station go over (it just appears as a very bright light moving across the sky). There was an airplane on an intersecting course with it, and she gasped and said "Are they going to collide??!" I said, "That plane is maybe a mile up, that space station is 250 miles up and the size of a football field." She'd probably kill me for telling that story... LOL
