Description
The Carnival of Brazil is the biggest popular party in the world according to the Guinness Book. Carnival is a festival that originated in Greece in the mid-600 to 520 BC.
Through this festival the Greeks held their services in thanks to the gods for the fertility of the soil.
In the Middle Ages, Carnival was all about pure satire for the powerful. The revelers protected themselves from possible retaliation with the excuse that the party drove them crazy (“revelry”, in French, means madness).
Brazil Carnival is celebrated on the streets for 5 days where three of them are holidays all over the country. People dress in beautiful costumes, dance samba, frevo and other rhythms. They are moments of great joy and relaxation.
This year the Carnival started on friday and will end on February 26th.
