For more than 20 years I have worked as a technical writer and commercial designer. My primary focus has been on print and Web design and I'm just now exploring the many incredible tools that exist to create 3D work. My main tools are Poser and Clip Studio Paint, which I use to create comic book style line art. I am also published an Origins Award winning Wild West game called GUTSHOT (see www.hawgleg.com for more info).

Super cool

Works amazingly well, especially considering the stylistic differences between the two products. Have you considered adding an occasional do-that from Simon3D's set to/over some of the greebling on the Heavy Lander's hull? I feel that might help them blend together even more--just a thought, though.

I'm definitely thinking along those terms: a few greebles or other elements moved around might make them blend better. I'm going to try one more ship combo, and then when i get closer to making the final decision I will focus on the smaller details like that.

Great blend, it certainly looks as though this craft has the basis of working well for your requirements.

Very striking. I really like what you did here. I'm very curious hoe you did the background (Space/Nebula).

I'll copy this to you in a PM, but here's the gist of how I made the Nebula background. It's a remarkably easy process. The ship is, of course, on its own layer. So, to create the background:
A side note on composition: In the case of a ship being dead center of the frame, I tend to put the brighter parts behind it, near the exhaust areas. Also, because I planned to use those white motion lines in front of the ship, I left that part of the background completely black (note that there aren't even any stars). I did this to simplify things, because those speed lines quickly clutter things up.
I spent significantly more time playing around with the white lines than I did creating the background (in this case, I used some version of "find edges" filter in Clip Studio Paint (not Photoshop) because I wanted to do all the work in CSP.

This is awesome! Fantastic job with kitbashing these two ships - and thanks for the description of your background process. I really like this - I'm gonna have to give it a go one of these days.
Hope to see you @ the webinar.. 👍

Thanks. And I definitely plan to attend! Talk to you then.

Very nice! Definitely looks like a single "coherent" ship (not a ship "made by committee" ;-)! I also enjoyed the insight into how you made the background. I wish more folks would share that kind of info, to help us all grow as artists!

Splendid, very nice

Nice job, I think this combination is the best of your kitbashed ships so far (up to and including 5). It's just the right mix of sleek and chunky for my taste.

Yup this one :)
Love how you explain the BG process in one of your replies, that's cool :)
