Description
Dear friends, I return here after a long time.
In that time I still did a lot of work but I have dedicated myself to realize many art exhibitions in which I was invited.
The first one in Leonessa a beautiful medieval town at a cloister of the 1300s, then in Perugia in an important ancient location, then Spoleto, Assisi, Fienze Palace of the region of 1600s in front of Palazzo De Medici, Venice prisons of Palazzo Ducale, and still in other historical centers in central Italy.
Now I want to come back here to find many friends and maybe have new ones and share with them these my experiences.
The image that place is now printed on canvas extent cm90x90 and is part of a series that will be proposed for an exhibition on the Divina Commedia the masterpiece of Dante Alighieri.

Good to hear from you again! I understand things are currently getting very difficult in Italy due to the virus. Please take care.
Very different visual interpretation of the whirlwind of lovers from Dante's Inferno. The posturing of the pair is reminiscent of some of the Tantric scenes found in Tibetan art. Very interesting how the figures are golden yet hollow and broken at the same time -- perfect yet also imperfect and unfulfilled. Something deep here to think about!

There are many images of Paolo and Francesca, but, truly, yours is now my favorite. You've portrayed them in yellow-gold, with orange flowing throughout their bodies. Their embrace is passionate and fiery. They're like two masses of light and energy embracing. Of course, they're in hell (the second circle, correct? it's been a long time since I studied the Comedia!), but your hell is filled with a passionate, beautiful sky, with glass and marble-like textures: It's as if we're looking into the mysteries of an opal! And you have layers on the bottom, perhaps the layers of hell itself....and yet, they also have some beautiful greens and blues. And it feels like Francesca and Paolo are rising out of hell and reaching the heavens...(Dante was moved by them, and fainted: I think that's what happened---again, my memory isn't good anymore, perdonami...So even though Dante condemned them, he felt great compassion for them. He should. And we should.)
Your image is filled with compassion, in my opinion. And I love the repetitions of F and P in the background---as metal sculptures, as skeletal spirits. And you have a number of organic form on the left (bottom), reminiscent of Dali and other surrealists: those creeping primal life forms that seem to come from the beginning of life.
I love your interpretation. I think Paolo and Francesca transcend their outdated punishment, and your image presents them glowing and eternally inter-connected. A terrific image, Giuliano. And congratulations on all your art-shows: I hope there are many more, when the COVID 19 is over. (I hope it's over quickly: I know that Italy has been ravaged by it.) Your work deserves all the attention it's getting. And I'm sorry your shows have been canceled because of the virus...I wish you great success when the virus has left us...
