The Medic She had grown up watching cowboy films and action movies set in World War II, and she wanted a piece of that action. However, she was born in a time when girls just didn’t do that sort of thing. All they could offer was a military medical career. So she became an army doctor. She learned her skills and served her time. After she left, private contractors soon sought her out and well if she was willing to get into harm’s way, she could add a premium to her rates. Then The Mother asked for her skills, she needed them used in a novel way. The Medic was skilled at keeping men alive and easing their pain, The Mother foresaw that that those same skills could be used for the opposite effect; to induce unbearable pain and if necessary, death.
