Description

A German Kriegsmarine U-boat deck gun crew reloading to fire another round. The German U-boat fleet was an integral part of their strategy during the Battle of the Atlantic. Admiral Donitz estimated that submarine warfare could cripple the British because of their heavy reliance on shipping to keep them supplied. Donitz advocated the wolf pack tactic. Submarines would travel in a wide line in front of a convoy and converge on escorting warships. While the escorts tried to chase and attack individual subs, other enemy submarines would pick off merchant ships. Donitz calculated that his tactic would cause havoc on Britain's supply line and cause them to drop out of the war. The tactic was successful until the crew of the destroyer Bulldog boarded a captured u-boat and recovered its cryptographic materials and code books and were able to successfully intercept the German's sub system of communications. This ultimately broke the back of the wolf pack's strategy. Submarine: Old classic free by Bazze, U-99. Re-textured, periscopes and deck gun replaced. Crew: M4, G8m, and G3m figures from daz. Uniforms cobbled together from Tannenbaum, Cybertenko, PoserWorld, Yura, and Tryphon. Models set up in PoserPro and C4d; composed, lighting, some texture adjustments, and rendered in DazStudio; finished in PsCs3.

Superb posing. And the warm light from the explosion/fire in the midst of the cold ocean atmosphere - amazing

WWII subs are the best looking subs around. Modern nuclear subs have no character. They are very BLAH. American subs and German U-Boats had deck guns, Railings and actual shape to their hulls!!! Great presentation. 😁
