Description

Here's an image of a freebie I'm packaging for upload. Next day or so. I need to package and test it. I posted an image when I was starting on the JCMs. I got distracted by another hobby (rowing crew) but the recent lockdown thing gave me some time at the laptop, to finish up. Not to downplay what the world is going through. This is all "OMG" like nothing in my life. Another thing that took me a while was writing a key bit of python. It does this: for a symmetric mesh, it can mirror all the JCMs (or any morph) in a couple of seconds. So I do just the JCMs for one side (I did the right ones) and the left ones are instantly created by the script. What a journey *that* was. First, I found that messy (bad) OBJs can be imported, but can later lead to problems, including Poser crashing during some operations. Mostly when copying morphs or joints via the GUI. My script actually checks a mesh for symmetry. Another problem comes from extraneous points and such. The script checks shared actor edges. Sometimes a point will be very close to an edge but not be there. It's so close as to be invisible. But the check finds it (or rather, Poser does and treats it as a non-shared edge, which means that deltas that hit that point aren't the same as the nearly exact shared edge point, which shows as a delta error in my script. This is all being done to a set precision, of course. The program needs documentation. And there's no GUI. Work needs to be done to turn it into something non-coders can use easily. But it does work. In fact, I found mesh errors when using the script. It doesn't even try to create the mirror morphs until everything checks out OK. So no messy state. Anyway.... This is La Femme. Basic LaFemme. No added morphs, no nothing. Just her built in joints and JCMs. subd=2. The clothing (top and bottom). A low(ish) res quad mesh (blender + the awesome quad remesher add-on). I created a specific edge (after much experimentation), that uses very few quads and relies on Poser smoothing. Add a subd=1 and you get what you see. I figured out how to make the edge materials and shape such that using the morph tool almost automates much of the heavy lifting on JCMs or general fit/morph tuning. I went through about a dozen different edge schemes to get this. Brutal. Lessons learned, though :) But now, for instance, I can do all the JCMs (one side since the other side is auto) in a couple of hours. The script does the other half in a flash. There are no additional fit morphs in the clothing. That's just the built-in joints, JCMs and subd=1. I'm sure that tweaking would be needed for more extreme poses. But I'll test. It's UV Mapped as well. I'm happy with this. Could be underwear or swimwear. thank you ^.^ and so simple, too. it's the EZsphere (one click), with a click for the EZ sun and a click to apply the SIBL. The clothing is drag and drop, no touchup. The longest part was posing. Which Poser makes pretty easy :)

thank you ^.^ it's weird how something can come together well, when there's no real intent and I'm just casually pushing pixels until things feel right. I wish things were that easy all the time :D
