Description
Gwenllian ferch Gruffydd is a surprisingly little known figure given her importance. The only woman to have ever led a Welsh army in battle, she is considered by some authorities to be as important to the history of the Britons as the far more famous Boudicca was. Born around 1100, she was Princess consort of Deheubarth in south Wales (the southwestern corner as far east as Swansea and north to Aberystwyth). While her husband was north seeking allies, she lead the army against the Norman invaders. Along with her sons, she was captured and killed after being defeated at Kidwelly Castle in 1136. Renowned as a striking beauty, she inspired the Great Revolt of 1136 and for centuries after, "Revenge for Gwenllian" was a Welsh battle cry.
For this image, I dusted off the v4 historical armour set (from daz)

Excellent!

Amazing scene, Joe! The lighting is incredible, and I love how this story is told almost entirely in silhouette, except for the flag which we can see in all its colour. Very thoughtful and wonderfully done! :)

Super well done.

Stunning battle scene. Excellent use of lighting and shadow. The banner doesn't quite fit, but still, plays nicely into the scene.
Excellent work.

Thanks Vidarr, your comments are appreciated. I wanted to highlight the emblem of Deheubarth, so I cheated a little with lighting the banner... I might have slightly overdone it!
