Description
Canadian goose, captured way back on 12/5/2005, at the beautiful Los Angeles Botanical Gardens in beautiful Arcadia, California.
The Canada goose (Branta canadensis) is a large wild goose species with a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body. Native to arctic and temperate regions of North America, its migration occasionally reaches northern Europe. It has been introduced to the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland Islands. Like most geese, the Canada goose is primarily herbivorous and normally migratory; it tends to be found on or close to fresh water.

Reminds me of a time many years ago when a friend and I were having lunch in a park not far from work. We had a group of 5 or 6 of these birds stroll over looking for a handout.
Great capture!

yes---this is quintessential goose-dom: bent over, neck craned, searching for food, as your son says. An essential goose photo...with lots of bleaching sunlight too. Total goose-osity in this shot. (I photographed geese for about a year. One day, I lay on the ground to catch them face-to-face: They spotted me, and lunged at me, running a mile a minute. I couldn't believe it! When you're lying on the ground and a pack of geese suddenly race at you, it's a wake up call...I jumped up, said, "have a great day, guys!" and got the hell outa there...)
