Description

Captured way back on 10/13/2006, at the beautiful Fullerton Arboretum in beautiful Fullerton, California. Since the arboretum has a collection of trees from all over the world I don't know if this is the fiscus kind or not. The grounds sure needed cleaning up though. I think the facility was operated by volunteers because there was a bucket for donations hanging by the entrance . Better viewed full size.

Excellent. I love big old trees. What we need to do is chop it down and make paper out of it, so we can print more books telling people how to protect big old trees like these. Do you know what species it is?

I think it may be a variety of Ficus, like in the fig family. The arboretum has all kinds of weird trees, that I'll posting photos of as time goes by.

With Rod, THAT is a freakin' TREE, sir! That tree ain't messin' around! The top photo is monumental: I love the couple standing at attention at the base of that temple-of-a-tree (it's hard to believe it's just one tree). And the woman's angled leg gives it sweet 'music', ie, some counterpoint...A monumental shot, Harry. The bottom shot is more casual, and I love how the couple is a sideshow to that magnificent tree-mass. A really fine duo here---both of them bring out the majesty of this behemoth. (And those creeping roots are like a gigantic beast!) You managed to convey the hugeness of the tree while only showing its base: kudos! (And to my eye too, it looks like a relative of the ficus family...though I'm not a reliable source on tree species.) If this weren't from you, I might've guessed this was in Asia. Love the shots.
