Description

A bit of fun for Star Wars Day - May The 4th Be With You! Just a stab I took at re-creating one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters, Ahsoka Tano from the animated "Clone Wars" series. In Star Wars chronology, this takes place in between the movies "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith." Ahsoka becomes the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker while he's still a dedicated Jedi, and loyal to his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Republic. Ahsoka proves to be a loyal and talented Padawan, and during the latter part of the clone wars she's entrusted to command a battalion of clones who quickly become very loyal, and trusting in her command. At the end of the Clone Wars series, she leaves the Jedi Order after being falsely accused of murder and crimes against the Republic. She reappears much later - after Anakin falls to the Dark Side and becomes Darth Vader. She becomes a valuable ally to a group of Rebels fighting against the Imperial Empire, and at one point nearly kills her old Master in a lightsaber duel. After damaging Vader's mask/helmet, she realizes who he is, and cannot bring herself to kill him. I've not had a chance to see the resurrected "Clone Wars Season 7" as I don't subscribe to Disney, but I'm hoping it will come out on DVD/Bluray so I can add it to my collection. I have all the SW movies (aside from 'Rise of Skywalker'), the animated "Clone Wars" movie (where Ahsoka first appears), the entire 5 seasons of "Clone Wars," all 4 seasons of "Rebels" as well as the "side stories," Rogue 1," and "Solo," Yeah, I'm a geek! Thanks so much for stopping by, and for all your awesome comments and support! And of course.... May the 4th Be With You! Always... Rod's Blog Facebook Twitter Girls From T.N.A. Super job for star wars day, was thinking about using Sabres for the G4-orce image I posted but went with guns instead. Hot action pose and terrific light fx on the weapons my friend. Also love the dead drone character and glowing injury.

Super Render Rod! I have Family Guy Star Wars trilogy (funny!) and I just acquired the last Star Wars move episode 9 Rise of Skywalker. The ending was amazing because it brought me back to the beginning when I first saw Star Wars first showing here in town at a matinee in a half empty theater before most people even knew what Star Wars was in May 1977. I have all the Star Wars and Star Trek movies. I have the Animated Clone Wars first 6 seasons and the Animated Rebels first 4 seasons. I was surprised to see the introduction of Thrawn in Rebels season 3 from the trilogy books of Timothy Zahn introduced in 1991 which I have and read as well. Also, Ahsoka Tano is in her twenties in Rebels, since I have not seen Clone Wars season 7 I assume she is also in her twenties. Anyway it is cool that you have an image of Ahsoka when she is still a teenager. Well done!

Yeah, I just love her spunk and sassiness - but man, when she gets down to business, look out.

I just saw where I put 3 instead of 4 for the Rebels' seasons... This keyboard can't spell or count! ๐Ÿคฃ

Indeed, Thrawn was one seriously badass dude. His intelligence and calm, calculating manner - even studying his adversaries' art - made him extremely dangerous... I'd sure like to know what happened with him and Ezra...

Yeah! Tin-head didn't have a chance in Heck. ๐Ÿ˜†

Now, General Grievous. That's a tin of a different color. Ashoka would need her a-game against him...

Need to binge watch Clone Wars somehow one of these days...

RodS

10:37PM | Mon, 04 May 2020

Yeah, Grievous was a whole different can of worms (or Kaleesh) indeed. Even Obi-wan and Anakin together had more than a handful with his tendency to come at you with 4 lightsabers spinning like propellers of death.. I remember her going up against him a time or two - she held her own, but wisely broke off when it got too intense..

I've been wanting to pick up the clone wars and rebels series, I have everything else. I haven't watched Rebels though. I don't subscribe to anything that carries it, and netflix Canada doesn't have it. (or much else that's good actually)

Terrific work on this little package of dynamite :) Really like her light emitting sabres. Hard to believe that Star Wars has been with us for 40 years...when it was announced how many installments there'd be, I remember thinking how outrageous that was, no way...well, here we are, installment after installment. Wish I held up as well as SW has :)

lol, barb/goldie ("I wish I held up as well as SW has"---ditto!!!) (Ya ever see me with a sabre? You wanna laugh???). Several other fans really got into this...Rod, I'm embarrassed anytime SWars comes up, because after seeing the first few movies, I just lost touch with it. Not because of it---it was just me. One of these days I'm gonna sit down for a week and binge on all I've missed.

Man...this image is an eye-blast. I love the light, and how you posed and lit Ashoka Tano. Great 'ready-for-action' pose, love outfit with all the intersecting lines, love the opposite-direction sabres, her fierce look (and not-too-shabby hairdo!), and a robot who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Plus, you contrast her super green presence with deep golden reds and yellows (behind her---love that window), and you leave the rest of the image 'open', to let it breathe. (Ok, remember you said that your cloud-crown in your previous image wasn't intentional: Well I agree that it was probably in your inner eye if not your outer eye. Artists like you just know where to put things---I'm totally serious about that, there's a voice in you that thinks, yeah---that's it!" You're second-nature at that stuff.) This cries to be seen full---it has a bangup impact. Knockout job. (And thanks again for your wonderful comments, Rod, I really appreciate what you've written. Many bows of thanks....Hope you and Jo are doing well: Get ATano's sabre goin' on the virus, maybe we'll see an end of this craziness by June...)

Boy, I'm getting out of here with a rude awakening and battered ego. I thought myself a Star Wars fan but I'm not a pimple on your pinky. And when did this May 4th stuff start ?? This is the 1st time I can recall it's celebration and recognition being so ubiquitous. I really need to get out from behind the screen in my lair more often :-/

You really captured her essence and spirit, Rod, and did her justice. Great, great pose and finger work. Those sabres LOOK like they're gripped.

Ave Ahsoka! Morituri te salutant !!

Thank you, good sir! A labor of love it was.. (jeeze... now I'm talking like Yoda.... I'm hopeless..)

I have seen a lot more "May The 4TH" stuff this year... Probably because we're all sitting inside, banging our heads on the table, and wondering if anything remotely resembling "normal" will ever return.. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‰

The final scene of last episode of season five was IMO the finest scene in any Star Wars movie or series. You have to watch closely the expressions on Ahsoka's face. The final words of scene where Anakin looks down and says โ€œ I know what itโ€™s like to want to leave the order" and Ahsoka gives Anakin a sideways look and says โ€œI know". The look on her face and the way says it, and look on Anakin face make me think she meant more than she understood his feeling. BTW Ahsoka was Dave Filoni creation, George Lucas want her killed off by the end of the Clone Wars so there wasnโ€™t any question why she wasnโ€™t in the movie, but Clone Wars was canceled before that could happen.

7:50PM | Tue, 05 May 2020

That scene just rips your heart out... I was actually tearing up the first time I saw it... The subtle (and at times not so subtle) facial expressions from Ahsoka are soooo well done - Filoni is a genius and his crew are magicians.

Yeah, killing off Ahsoka would be a crime worthy of permanent banishment to Mustafar... Thankfully she reappears in "Rebels' and still lives somewhere out there in that galaxy far, far away..
