C’était l’aurore dans les sous-bois, le soleil venait débarrasser la forêt de son manteau de grisaille, pour laisser place à ses plus vives couleurs. C’était la révolution dans l’arbre-maison des cardinaux mâles, ils arboraient leur plus beau plumage rouge et portaient leur petit masque noir, comme d’autres un nœud-papillon. Ces messieurs avaient un speed dating avec Mesdames, les femelles, mais comble du sort, leur pendule s’était arrêtée. Comment faire pour être à l’heure au rendez-vous ? ça les rendait d’autant plus nerveux, qu’ils savaient qu’un chat célibataire, un gros matou qui cherchait les ennuis, rôdait dans le voisinage. Quelle ne fut pas leur surprise quand ils virent une humaine, déguisée d’un costume grossier à leur effigie, s’accrocher au tronc de leur arbre ! Et quel drôle de nez, elle avait ! C’était l’horlogère, appelée de leurs cris, pour réparer la pendule. Et d’un geste expert de la pointe effilée de son nez, elle remit en route la trotteuse, et la pendule à l’heure. Quelques instants plus tard, celle-ci égrenait joyeusement quatre coups (comme les points cardinaux), signe que le speed dating allait pouvoir commencer. Cela en était trop pour le matou, qui suivait la scène depuis le début avec des yeux comme des montres à gousset, il recula à pattes de velours et rebroussa chemin. Le chat se dit, mais un peu tard, qu’il ne se goinfrerait plus de ces champignons hallucinogènes.

A few moments later, it happily shelled four shots (like the cardinal points), a sign that speed dating was going to be able to start. It was too much for the tomcat, who had been following the scene from the start with eyes like pocket watches, he backed up with velvet legs and turned back. The cat thinks, but a little late, that it will no longer eat these hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Les autres oiseaux et le chat ne savent plus comment réagir devant cette chimère géante, femme-oiseau. Elle est amusante, cette scène déjantée qui nous fait oublier les inquiétudes de la vie ... en souriant! Je l'adore!
