Description

To all our service people, past to present we salute you and thank you for your service as watchers and protectors of rights and freedoms that the U.S. stands for. Thank you. My dad from his war days. Luckily he made it home or I would not exist. Too bad he left this Earth too soon. I was only eight, but I still have some good memories. Not surprisingly Popeye was his favorite cartoon to watch with me. He was also a talented artist, carpenter and craft/model builder. And he loved music. He played guitar and piano and organ. Mom still tells stories of how he used to come to her house and literally serenade her with his guitar and singing when they were kids. You might get arrested for harassment these days. All three of his apples did not fall far from the tree. My oldest brother, Jeff, is a good and artistic photographer and quite handy at carpentry and your basic household repair. Chris, the middle brother, is also an accomplished photographer and works in a photo lab. Obviously it's all digital these days and he does mounting on various materials. Also he is the most prolific song writer I know and plays all keyboards, guitar, bass and sings. As for me, ya'll know what I do. Take some time to remember and remember to have fun and enjoy the day, after all that is what they fight for.

Excellent, I miss my Grandparents and wish that they wrote done their accounts of their time during the war, but I can also fully understand why they didn't. I miss them so much. Thank you to all who were around then, and sorry for what we have done with the freedom left to us, hope we can do better by them, I won't stop trying.

Amen, brother! Bless all of them as well as those now on the front lines fighting off our new invisible enemy. Those are wonderful images. Thanks for this, Art!

My dad started out in the Army Air Corps as well, and stayed in as it became the US Air Force. He served from 1943 to 1963. I served in the Air Force 1968 - 1972 during the Vietnam era. I don't regret a minute of it.

Nothing like watching an old cartoon like Popeye on the new magical like device my father finally decided to buy. You had to adjust the rabbit ear style antena to get a clear picture, but there always seemed to be some background interference. How far we've come from those old vacuum tube days and yet those old memories are still held dear... 😎
