Stunning image Kostas!!. The sense of action you have captured is outstanding. Great POV, woderful characters and outfits. I would probally add a little more blur on the arrows to really give that sense of movement. Still, this a joy to view. Thank you. ---- Scott.

OK. GO to http://joseph_berrigan.tripod.com/ancientbabylon/id28.html. Apparently there were 150000 persians and 10,000 Spartans but to help save the Spartan army, 300 held off the 150,000. Very very interesting. Thanks for the lessonn.

The true story every Greek know from school my friend Zorares, is that at the beggining of battle and until the 2nd day there where 150.000 Greek soldiers indeed, from many Greek city states. At the third day and when everything been lost, the Spartan king Leonidas, order all other Greeks to retreat in order to save their lifes and unite with the other Greek forces who's been preparing. The Spartans had to stay because of their laws which didn't allow them to leave the battlefield. The 700 Thespiis with the free Spartan helots where the only other Greek been there, just because they feel they have to do this. In our days, there is a statue of king Leonidas at the pass of Thermopylae, and recently a new monument been build, right behind, to honour the 700 Thespiis.

Amazing work. I feel that you honour in the best way our ancestors. In fact the 2000000 Persians was not a hyperboly. The leader of the Persian Army was Xerxes himself. In tradition when the King of Kings went to battle all his vassal kings with their armies were obliged to follow him to battle. The total number in fact was lees than expected as they lost many men on the way from Persia. In Thermopyle is the only way to South Greece from a stripe of land between the maountains and the sea. The specific spot that Leonidas fought was about 15-20 meters wide. Forming a wall of shields and athletic bodies stopped the series of attacks of the ill equiped Persians. One day later trechery led by a shepherd sell a way through the mountains to the Persians and the Greeks were surrounded and died there in rain of arrows that you can find by the tons even today in the area.

"Epic" is almost too small a word, Kostas. One can tell from the composition and posing that here's one of those picture-makers who'll be great whether working with 3D, with a camera or with brushes and canvas. And this drama is movie quality stuff !!! Thanx for sharing !

Going through your gallery Ive noticed that we share the same passion on Greek history and mythology its probably our Hellenic background, I guess I have a version of Thermopylae but its artistically different. I have to admit that I like your version better
