(This was a favourite joke of a headmaster friend of mine - some years ago ... "es ist gerade untergetaucht" he would say, and laugh and laugh.

These Victorian pennies remained in circulation until the 1971 decimalisation of the pound. I put that one to one side because it was so well preserved; most of the few I have are very worn.
