Description
Go ahead.
Look all you want. I'll just stand here, patiently, while you do that.
It's what I do best, you know: stand here.
Patiently.
While you look.
Oh sure, early on, I had my own goals in life. I studied foreign languages, mathematics, applied sciences. I can figure the value of pi to 47 decimal places -- not that that's any big deal right at this particular moment, you understand, but I thought you might like to know anyway.
I'll just stand here.
While you look.
Because that's my job.
And I believe a job well done is its own reward.
Yeah, I could have gone on with my studies, maybe become a university professor -- and by now, I'd be some middle-aged, wheezing old guy who finds it a real strain on the heart to make it up a single flight of stairs. Not the man you see now, right?
Funny, the career choices Life ultimately deals us, right? Sure, we all want to be... useful in some way or another... and I guess I am, even now. The ability to read Proust in the original... well, that doesn't really factor into this kind of job, but it's not about me or my needs.
It's about standing here.
Very still.
Patiently.
While you look.
Take your time; I'll be here for a while. New edition of the magazine doesn’t come out for weeks yet, so you got plenty of time.
