Description

I did this image in response to a request from Maverick1238 on DeviantArt. This is my interpretation of his OC Valissa Esteves. The outfit was also chosen by Maverick1238, which I think looks great on her. You can see a slightly different version of the image (cropped for better focus) and learn more about Valissa in his account at DA. I was surprised how quickly I was able to set up and render this image. It only took around 20 hours, which is really fast for me. I guess sometimes having a bit of outside influence can really make a difference. Thanks Maverick1238! Valissa is a combination of a lot of resources. Her shape is based on Marieke for G8F from DAZ, with a lot of additional morphs. For her skin I used Rebekah for G8F with a lot of modifications to the shaders. The outfit is Exquisite Ornaments from Aeon Soul (really quality work, I seldom need to touch their shaders), the sword is also from Aeon Soul (The Legend), and the circlet is from Maiden Princess for G8F. I did change all the shaders for the center piece on the circlet to make it match the rest of the outfit, and the jewel in the pommel of the sword. The scene (everything but the sky) was generated using Ultra Scenery (sorry, I don't remember the settings I used, this was the first time using it, and the third version I tried which had most everything modified a bit). The hair is Gem Hair for G8F (with very minor shader adjustments). The primary lighting and sky (there is just a bit of sky visible through the trees) for the scene is the Lakeside HDRI from HDRI Haven, with 8 spot lights for rim lighting. I tried several different lighting scenarios, but this HDRI gave just the right light for a quiet sunny afternoon (or morning). Post work was the standard vignette and unsharp mask layer treatment in Gimp using the G'MIC plugin. I also had to do some clean up where several blades of grass were poking through her right foot (yea, most people wouldn't "notice", but it really gave an odd feeling because it didn't "look right", even though you had to really concentrate on it to tell which blades of grass were going through her foot). The image was rendered using Iray in Daz Studio Beta 4.12.2.6 Thanks for stopping by!! Oh, please zoom to full resolution the see all the intricate details (3600x3600).

20 hours render time, for this image, I calculate on my computer at most 5-6 hours for very complex images. Chapeau for your patience. Beautiful image, excellent done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!! Opps, I should have been clearer, 20 hours creation time, including scene/character setup, posing, shader adjustments, and rendering. The final render for the full size image was a little less than 2 hours.

20 hours well spent. This is a must see at full scale. The textures shine and the reflections are so natural. How many render attempts to get to the final one?

It took a few test renders, maybe 15 to 20. It always seems to take several almost final renders to get things "just right" (a finger not right, a bit of clipping here or there). Plus with UltraScene I can't really use the preview, so it's back to the old way of doing things via nearly full scale test renders.

This is absolutely jaw-dropping! The realism here is stunning - I can almost feel the sun on my skin, and hear her feet gliding through the grass. I just hope she has good intentions when she get closer - that's a wicked looking blade she's toting!

Fantastic work, my friend!
