What a great caricature!

terrific. Some of the faces you portray look so Eastern European or East Mediterranean, or even Middle Eastern. (Well, with the name "Thornstern," this man is not likely to be from the Middle East.) This man looks like so many people I knew as a young man and child (and studied with, esp at the piano). I love the etched sharp nose, the thick pointy mustache, the long sloping head---you've distorted him as if he were seen in a warped mirror---and the heavy blacks for his hair, ears and bowtie. And heavy lines for his shirt. Real character in this. And you have this way of alternating between heavy blacks and very thin facile lines. Also, you do a mix between caricature and cartooning---on the one hand---and very intense drawing, on the other. I think Saul Steinberg would have appreciated your work. (I'm talking about his vast archive of portraits and other drawings, not just the famous New Yorker covers.) I expect him to be drinking slivovica and listening to Shostakovich...(if he survived the slivovica---that's not a given...) Love this.
