Description

Hello Everybody! I've been away for a while and neglecting my projects I know. But I, surprisingly, have more work to do during lockdown and working from home than I did when I was commuting everyday. I don't miss the commute, but I seem to have less time for other things. And my spare time is further taken up with supporting family members who need additional assistance these days. If, like me, you are now regularly using Microsoft Teams and you use the Teams app from a Windows terminal equipped with a builtin camera - sorry linux people - then you can display fake backgrounds behind you in the virtual meeting feature. This is so that your co-workers won't notice that you've been banished to your basement. Microsoft provides some interesting and conventional looking faux backgrounds along side the 'blur' effect in a current Microsoft Teams app for Windows. In my unpopular opinion, the experience is like guesting in an episode of classic 'Doctor Who'. Try it, you'll see what I mean. And, if your Teams App is up to date (and on a newish Windows device - did I mention linux people are out in the cold on this one?) you can add your own custom backgrounds. There's no utility for putting your own images into the programme but if you place them into the following directory on your local computer (within your Windows profile) they should appear at the bottom of the backgrounds selection panel automatically. C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads In that spirit, I am posting some of my custom backgrounds for the fun of it. I hope you enjoy them. This was the first custom Teams background I created. I just took a sample Vue scene and modified with some of my in stock tricks and customized atmospheres. I will let you, the good viewership, think of your own backstory. Cheers! And stay safe. PS. You can find the background controls for the background effects by clicking on the '...' option of your meetings control bar - the one that controls your local camera, mic and sign off. PPS. Thus far, I have not been able to make animated GIFs work although GIFs do work like other static backgrounds. PPPS. I've never used Zoom, but I understand Zoom has a similar feature.

Hi Clayton--hope all's well in your neck of the woods...Your "simple" image is stunning--the palette falls within my fav colors :) I'm not a big fan of MS, but their Teams App sound like fun (I have absolutely no use for it though). Using this background with your "Teams" should grab the attention of the participants.

I really love this! I want to go stay there for a while - or anywhere that COVID (and certain political figures) isn't...

Retired, so working from home isn't a big concern here LOL!

Good to see your work when you do get a break. Stay safe, my friend!
