This is the first of the three 90mm models by Noctura (see Forgotten in gallery) Hand painted. The base is unusual and has it's own story. Where I worked at a chapel turned office we had two yew trees in the graveyard behind it. They were both huge and old. One blew down in 2012 during a gale and was chopped up to be taken away. I took a slice home, intending ti smooth and varnish it for display at the chapel. While I was doing this model I split my time between it and the yew tree slice. When I started to handle the slice a small piece broke off with bark attached. Looking at it I saw it was just ideal for this model. So there you have it, a 2oo year old yew tree gave me a base for my model all by itself!
