Description
Samarkand looms, its golden spires glinting like another Troy.
Traders of every nation convene and implore good citizens to buy their wares, albeit while driving away the beggars and stray dogs that impugn the reputation of the city's famed markets.
Yes, if Trump had been alive then he wouldn't have missed the opportunity to put upon the the downtrodden. Somethings never change.

Samarkand....a city which makes me dream but I guess my dreams make it more attractive than it is in real life. Superb creation.

Nice scene, Paul love her outfit.
To put my geeky historian hat on, though Ibn Battuta called Samarkand the most beautiful of cities, and it remains spectacular to this day, it never had spires, let alone golden ones, alas. I don't think Illium (Troy) did either, as it they are generally considered a mediaeval invention

Yes, you are right Joe, taking a liberty and including something I read ages ago about the Mongol invasions where Tsubotai? or one of Ghenghis' sons? tore down minarets at some city that failed to surrender straight away; as for Illium that was culled from David Gemmel's excellent (imho) Troy series that was finished by his wife, and Marlowe mentions in a poem that was part repeated in Shakespeare in Love "Was this the face that launch'd a thousand ships, And burnt the topless towers of Ilium?...." anyway tall things :)

I don't think I've met anyone right wing with an ounce of human compassion. We have plenty of them up here in Canukistan. One of our Premiers a years gone by went into the local homeless shelter (drunk) and threw change at them, and told them to go get jobs. Then he shipped half of them out of the province so the Royals wouldn't see them. This is what people elect.
Whups, lookit me on a rant. And hey, if you want your Samarkhand to have spires, then it will have spires! And domes! OK, it actually has domes. And pillars,

Another impressive out fit for your main character. That ground looks a bit rough on her bare feet though I think a pair of shoes or sturdy boots are called for 😆

Your new image/capture looks really very beautiful and well done, I wish you and yours a nice Saturday evening, take care and stay healthy! PS. Please excuse my copy/paste comments, unfortunately it is not possible for me to sit for a long time because of the constant pain (damaged lumbar vertebrae pressing on a nerve), but I still want to have a look at your new artworks! Up to my scanner appointment (MRI) I drag myself from day to day as well through as it goes.
