It wasn't much, but it was where I hung my shingle. Trace Willems, private dick. Though not as private as I'd like. No, it seemed like I had every rotten scumbug that called this city home in my office at one point or another. The "Lord's Work" I liked to call it.

That day I was visited by the Lady in Red. The sun was trying to surrender to the clouds, but it hadn't rained since the night before, and was dressed to kill.

She wouldn't say who referred her, and I didn't ask. We all had friends in low places. She left half an hour later, and I was soon for the shadows myself. A client was a client, amd Trace Willems believes in being quick about her business.

If only I could have known the trouble it would cause hunting down that car...
