Description
The Kalahari lion (Panthera leo vernayi) is a subspecies of the lion and belongs to the genus Panthera within the family of cats (Felidae).
The Kalahari lion reaches a body length of 180 to 200 cm, a shoulder height of 90 to 110 cm and a weight of up to 250 kg, making it one of the larger lion subspecies. The tail has a length of almost one meter.
