I have been trying to arrange for papers needed to carry the ashes of the old lady to San Jose, CA where her husband and only child is buried. my plans are to get out of California just as fast as possible. I was talking to the manager of the Oriental store today and he mentioned that he drove to Florida for a break.
I asked him if the people were wearing masks. he said he did not see anyone.
the annual gathering at Sturgis of motorcycle jockeys is this week and they were not wearing masks also

Your photo captures the big smile of this "smiling Buddha" (historically, he's actually known as "Hotei" or "Budai"), but he's a real symbol of joy, and often found in front of stores and restaurants as a symbol of plenitude. The big belly is contentment and happiness, the bowl is the begging bowl---showing he's humble---but it's full, as he offers gifts to the needy. And that big stick on top is---I think---a holder for his bags of goods...and that dot between his eyes is his "third eye" (wisdom). Lovely shot and light, and suitable for your kindness to that woman---ie, offering alms and happiness.

I think we’re gonna need that Buddha. There are so many ignorant people among us. The bike rally has a potential to spread Covid 19 all over the US. Then the same dumbasses will be the ones crying the loudest for someone to save them. All we can do is stay vigilant and follow the advice of the medical professionals.I wish you well and I wish you safety in the travels you’re about to undertake.
