Description
Named after General Billy Mitchell, the Army Air Corps' most famous figure of the 1920s and 1930s, the North American B-25 proved to be one of the best American weapons of World War II. First flown on August 19,1940, the B-25 was a rugged, adaptable and accurate medium bomber. Famed for its role in the Doolittle Raid on Japan, the B-25 served around the world and flew with several air forces. North American produced the Mitchell in many different models, nearly 10,000 B-25s in all.

Nice capture. Does this one carry passengers? It looks like the top of the bombardier's compartment has been modified to give the occupants a better view.

Nice capture Richard, but i think it's a Douglas A-26 Invader later renamed B-26 Invader witch saw service during WW2, Korea, Vietnam and other wars around the world.

The B-25 along with the B-17 are two of my most favorite WW2 era aircraft. A joy to see one totally restored.

Yo Richard, I do not want to start a war (LOL), but like ikke.evc, I too thought this was mislabeled by you. Long story short - I looked up B-26 (A-26) for photos and found this very plane actually in flight. It was easily identifiable by the plexiglass nose and the wonderful nose art. Unfortunately I was not able to post said picture. I am sure somewhere along the way someone got their wires crossed. No big deal, just trying to help out. Keep em flyin'.

Great capture of the A-26. Douglas A-26 Invader. "Hard to Get" is an A-26 Serial Number 44-35710 displayed at The Cavanaugh Flight Museum, Addison, Texas.
