Description
Boudica ("victory" in Brythonic) is one of the great folkloric heroines of Britain. She was the wife of Prasutagus king of the Iceni in the latter half of the 1st century, and herself of royal descent. On the king's death, Rome would not recognise his female heirs and his kingdom was summarily annexed. His lands and property were plundered and the nobles treated like slaves. According to the historian Tacitus, Boudica herself was flogged and her daughters were raped.
As a result, Boudica led a short lived but, by all accounts, bloody rebellion against Rome. The 9th legion was destroyed in battle, and Colchester, St.Albans and London all sacked and burnt down, with no prisoners taken. Roman historians put the dead at 80,000. The savagery of the onslaught almost caused the emperor Nero to withdraw from Britain altogether.
This picture follows on from a render I originally made 5 years ago in DS3 ( Its in my gallery, "Queen of the Iceni" if you're intersted), updated for DS4.

Fantastic scene, Joe! The fiery lighting really emphasizes the "bloody" feel to this, even if you wouldn't show any blood. Something apocalyptic about it all. GREAT composition and incredible action. :)

Great work! I really dig these mythological-based scenes you do.

Wow 😯
What a story. Stunning slavery, flogging, and rapes are highly devastating.
When the bloody riots in Rome ended the catastrophic loss of lives and deaths seem unbearable.
Your image is a reflection of the fiery madness of the time.
Sadly I must suggest that mankind didn’t learn many lessons from this or other highly disagreeable decisions.
🥺🥺🥺

Thanks for the comments Glenda, and alas I must agree the arbitrary misuse of power seems to be inherent in our society.

What I love in this image - are the horses!! They are magnificent!

Haha. Interesting thought! The Horses are the old DAZ Millennium horse; one of the few DAZ animal models of that generation that still holds up, though i did have to tweak the textures a bit
