Description

On the ninth evening of every month, the Grimlens emerge from their underworld with one sole purpose in mind: to peruse the pottery offerings at the Smuggler’s Market. The smugglers stay home on these evenings, behind the safety of closed curtains, trusting the Grimlens to leave payment behind for any items they decide to take with them. If you click on the blue "Open Full Image" button below the image, you might catch a glimpse of a Grimlen in greater detail. Just make sure they don’t see you! Rendered in August 2020 in Poser Pro 11 Firefly at 4400 × 2475 pixels, using direct lighting (one infinite light, 16! inverse-square point lights, and an IBL light) with Depth Cue atmosphere enabled. View full size on my blog. ==CREDITS== SCENE: Smugglers Market and boat from Merchant House by 1971s; TerraDome2; Fog prop by me; Exnem Vases (4-5 of them mixed in with vases included in Smuggler’s Market). CHARACTER: K4 figures with Grimlen character by RawArt.

That's what they want you to think :-) If one of them caught a glimpse of you, you'll soon know it!! Not sure how, but they're sneaky little critters, so watch out! Thanks for the comment :-)

This is gorgeous and the lighting is mesmerizing! Love the mix of turquoise and yellow that give such a fantasy yet warm outcome to the entire scene. Those tiny folks seem to be awful busy! :)

Thank you so much for the comments! "Fantasy yet warm" sounds like what I'm aiming for :-) The tiny folk take their work of choosing pottery very seriously! After all, they only get to do it once a month, so each piece must be carefully considered, with a fair amount of chin rubbing and head scratching involved in the process!

That's only b/c Grimlens grumble at a frequency beyond what the human ear can hear ;-)

OK I got some good news and bad news. The bad first....yep I clicked on it just as you said. And Yep, he was looking right at me from the get go. I closed it real quick and shut down my computer immediately. When do you think it'll be safe to turn it back on?

Not for a few more days, at least, until you can be certain that the Grimlens haven't tracked you down through your IP address! For such reclusive little underground dwellers, they're remarkably tech savvy! But I'm still waiting for the good news :-)

Love all the rich details in this image. Beautiful lighting. Nice use of the Grimlen character. I was thinking of buying it sense I use K4 a lot in my work. Don't think I want to know where they carry their "payments" that leave behind for the products.

Ha! I guess it's clear they don't have pockets. So... let's just say that Grimlen spit has highly prized medicinal properties. I think the one in the upper right corner might actually be leaving payment in one of the vessels :-)

I was so delighted when I came across RawArt's creature characters for K4, as that opens up so many more possibilities for all the K4 stuff I have (given that I rarely render actual human kids). I have the Grimlens and Grebloids packages, while the Imp, Elf, and Yodkin are on my wish list. I also have RawArt's Lizardians for M4/V4, and I bet that would work for K4 too with some adjustments. Not sure what kinds of superhero kids you could make of those creatures, but I bet you have a few ideas!
