Description
The Titan II launch vehicle was one of those planned for the USAF X-20 Dyna-Soar Spaceplane. This booster differed from that used for Gemini space flights, having large fins to compensate for the X-20's wings and twin tails. The view shows the expended first stage falling away after a launch from Cape Canaveral, the second stage ignited on separation. The hypergolic propellants used for the Titan burned with a comparatively subtle blue flame.
The image uses my X-20 Dyna-Soar Spaceplane and the X-20 Titan II Booster freebie. The booster flame was post-processed into the image using the exhaust prop from my Scout Ship. If I'd planned ahead I could have included the prop and rendered it directly. The background image is from NASA.
The scene was composed and Superfly rendered in Poser 11 Pro, post-processed In Corel Photo Paint.
