Description
_______ Here's a photo I took earlier this month in the Swiss Alps, more particularly in the Jungfrau region, called the Bernese Oberland. This is the place where the highest summits of the country are visible in a single 360-degree view, from places like Männlichen, where I was standing and taking the photo, not far from this bunch of 'Milka'cows here in the foreground.
_______ The Jungfrau in the background is towering above the Männlichen high plateau that you can reach through an impressive cable car from Wengen, where international skiing competitions are held in the winter season. In only fifteen minutes, you reach the altitude of 2,200 meters and then you can face the three Swiss alpine giants : the legendary Eiger- 3,967-meters (13,015 ft), the Mönch - 4,107 meters (13,474 ft) and the Jungfrau -4,158 meters (13,642 ft).
_______ The pyramid-shaped mountain to the right, with its fully-covered summit is the Silberhorn (3,695 m or 12,123 ft)), meaning 'Silver horn or peak' in English, a mountain that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien in his trilogy 'The Lord of the Rings'. The Silberhorn in Tolkien's writings was renamed the 'Celebdil', one of the three mountains bordering and overlooking the Moria, the Middle-Earth.
_______Thank you so much for your nice comments about my previous Swiss post, have a nice week and take care, while zooming in for more details ...
