Description
The X-20 Dyna-Soar Spaceplane was designed land like an airplane under pilot control, but unpowered, like the much later Space Shuttle. This is a pilot's eye view of a landing at White Sands. The window cover that protected the frond windows during re-entry has been jettisoned to give the pilot a clear view ahead. He's controlling the glider using the side-arm controller in his right hand and the rudder pedals. The yellow-striped ring between his knees is the ejection seat control he'd have used if there was trouble during his approach.
I overlaid an early render of my X-20 figure on an image of the White Sands shuttle landing area. The pilot is M4 wearing a modified M3 Space Suit (from DAZ).
The scene was composed and Superfly rendered in Poser 11 Pro and post-processed In Photoshop and Corel Photo Paint.
