Description

I've been starting to update some birds I did back when the century was young (2002-2005) for my next set of Songbird ReMix updates. Here's a sneak peak at my revised cactus wren. The wren has been a troublesome bird to shape for years with my SBRM model due its compact body. I think I've managed to pick up a thing or two about modeling and morphs, as well as what birds look like, in the 17 some years (lol), so I think I've finally created a reasonable wren shape with my generic bird model. The original Cactus wren model is in my Renderosity Gallery (Springtime in the Desert, Pg 25) The Cactus wren is a non-migratory resident of scrub communities of the southwestern United States and northern and central Mexico. This wren is considered one of the keystone bird species in the creosotebush (Larrea tridentata) scrub communities of the “warm” Chihuahuan, Sonoran, and Mojave Deserts; also inhabits Tamaulipas thorn-shrub and coastal sage scrub. The Cactus Wren is the largest wren in North America and can survive without any freestanding water. They are very aggressive, territorial and bold. They frequently will destroy other birds nests found within their territory. Cactus wrens will mob nest predators. In one account, “A pair was observed attacking a Yuma antelope squirrel so vigorously that the squirrel became impaled on the thorns of a cactus called the cholla. The wrens continued to peck the squirrel until it was knocked to the ground where it escaped.” Don't mess with cactus wrens ;) Rendered in Firefly without any post work. Models include Flink's skydome, my NW Saguaro Habitat and SBRM Characters (Cactus Wren).
